Our Values

Solid Technology: Quix products are designed and developed using solid, technologically sustainable methods. We ship clean products that serve ourselves and our customers as a basis for the future.

Reliability first: In data storage, performance is easy to reach. However designing a system to behave correctly under real circumstances is difficult, and also costs performance. We choose the correct way, even if it is harder and costs performance.

Fair Licensing: Our software contains many features. We license those features in reasonably simple, flexible and fair ways. We also allow hardware obtained from 3rd parties (e.g. disk drives) to be used on our system where possible.

Company History

Quix looks back to two decades of technology development.

The first data storage products were developed and
marketed in 1989 - a 45MB removable disk system based on SyQuest drives, with SCSI device drivers from Quix.

In 1990 Quix Computerware incorporated as a shareholder corporation under Swiss law.

In 1993, Quix obtained a license from Apple Inc. for the MacOS operating system. It allowed to Quix to sell its Daydream product, a version of MacOS for computers from NeXT Inc.

In 1995, Quix ported the PowerPC-version of the MacOS operating system to machines from IBM, Motorola, Firepower and Canon. Despite flawless operation and excellent performance, Apple refused to provide a license.

In 2003, Quix completed development of its initial A300 storage data encryption system. The today's Quix Storage Router is based on A300 technology from 2003.

In 2009 the first Quix VTL Express backup systems were installed at customer sites.
